Photo Competition

I thought, since so many of us have access to cameras at home, that it might be fun this term to have a series of photo competitions for us to learn some new skills and to be a bit artistic. Through taking photos we will learn how to take a photo, how to upload it to a computer and then how to send it to an email address (mine). The photo entries will be uploaded to the Blog and there might be a prize for an outstanding entry.

The inspiration for the first challenge came from watching Toy Story yesterday and a couple of photos that I found on the internet (the ones below). So challenge one is called ‘Toys Alive’; take a photo of a toy or toys in action and send it to my email address luked@haweaflat.schoolzone.net.nz

See if you can be as clever and creative as the examples that I have given you and I look forward to seeing you entries.

Earthquake Research

Earthquakes are the earths own natural means of relieving stress.
A example of pushing both ends of a pencil into the middle, eventually it will snap.

Our Earthquake Survival Kits

We have made posters showing what supplies you need in an Earthquake or Natural Disaster. We designed these posters because we were learning about what we needed to do in an emergency or Earthquake. If you had to leave your home, and you had the supplies in our kits, you would have food and water and be able to survive better.

The reason why we have been looking at survival kits was because we have been looking at what has happened in Christchurch and discussing if we would be ready if an Earthquake was to happen here.

My Tramp

You sit there when it's cold or hot, you sit there day and night with your four legs strong and stiff you're always ready to play. Your springs bounce up and down as my feet leave the ground. your hand, bruised and battered, but you don't mind, you still sit there like nothing is wrong. I bounce in the heart of you. You help me and support me when I bounce, bounce, bounce.
