Mackenzie and Henry in a professional looking snowcave

Louis's German Holiday Hoemwork

We have seen his wonderful Snowman and you can check out his kidblog for photos from Singapore, but here is an email that he has sent us of some Mathematics about cars.

Dear Mr Dyer and Room 6,
We biked from Germany to Switzerland this evening, for a homework project.
We went to a second hand car sales yard and counted 12 mercedes, 12 audis, 12 bmw, and 3 porsches.
There were many other cars there, such as ford mustang gts, Fr 61,000!!!
The object of the exercise was to figure out how much money there was in the car yard and to look at averages.
I have also shared a google doc with you of the spreadsheet I made.
From Louis

Fishing with Ross

Ross and I drove to the ramp, we put the boat in the water and we sped off to a special spot. I put the line in the water and twenty minutes later I caught a Brown Trout. In half an hour – Zig- the massive fish went under the boat, and then Ross scooped it up in the net because he didn’t want to lose it. One minute later Ross caught a fish.
We turned home, I drove the boat back, Ross put it in the trailer, we drove back and me and Pierson got to play.

A Special Help for Doug

Hello there to everyone,
This is a bit of a reminder about what we talked about on Friday afternoon... Doug needs our help at school on Monday evening from 7:15... we need at least 20 of us to be there and I can not tell you about it, but I know that you will enjoy the experience. We will chat about it again in the morning, but have a discussion with your parents and lets hope that we can all make it ;)

Mr Dyer

PS: This counts as a homework task!

The Photo Competition... next generation

With such an amazing response to the Photo Competition, 25 entries for the final last week, that was won unanimously by Rory's war zone photo I was thinking how we could take this type of competition to a different level, something that is a bit more futuristic and involves a lot of new skills to be learned by your parents.

There are now two different competitions, you can enter either or both.

1. Photo Competition with the topic of "Action Weekend"

or

2. Pivot Stick 20 second movie
-Watch the You-tube clip below and download the free program 'Pivot Stick' from the link opposite. Your clip needs to be from 10 - 20 seconds long and can be any action of your choice (dance, sport, etc...). Remember the more time spent on your creation and the more small movements you make the smoother your animation will be.

We have three weeks to complete this challenge and the due date is Friday the 20th of November. Email me your entries or bring them in on a data stick if the files are too big.

Good Luck and I look forward to seeing your creations.

My Tramp

You sit there when it's cold or hot, you sit there day and night with your four legs strong and stiff you're always ready to play. Your springs bounce up and down as my feet leave the ground. your hand, bruised and battered, but you don't mind, you still sit there like nothing is wrong. I bounce in the heart of you. You help me and support me when I bounce, bounce, bounce.

Some Excellent Homework

Orion is a star constellation in the sky. Orion was a giant so tall he could walk through any sea with his head above water. The second largest star in Orion is called Betegeux. It marks the right shoulder and is a red super giant. It could contain the whole orbit of the Earth around the Sun.
Rigil is the brightest star in Orion. It is a blue and white super giant and in the leg of Orion. It is 57,000 times brighter than our Sun.
Orion is visible from October to March. Orion is inverted high in the north east. When finding Orion look for the belt and the Main Pointer.

Pig Hunting

In the weekend Dad, a friend and I went pig hunting. It was hard work chasing the pig because it was running fast with the four pig dogs trying to catch it. The pig got away. It was fun and I am hoping to catch it next time.

Balloon Powered Car

We had an idea... we wanted to see if we could power a car with a balloon. The first car was way too heavy so we tried another car that was not so heavy. I taped a balloon to the car, blew up the balloon and then put the toy car down on the floor. When the air came out of the balloon it pushed it along the floor.
